THEMES
I’ve been interested in interactive arts for a long time. However, with a graphic design & film background, I’d been educated to consider everything from the visual aesthetics angle. Now I’m interested in researching more about the interactive parts. For example topics like:
1.
Challenging the boundary between reality (physical) and virtual (digital), especially for performance experience.
2.
Apply the data from the reality / physical world (like object, people etc.) to generate artificial visual/audio, and consider how these generated outcomes affect the reality / physical world (like object, people etc.)
3.
Consider the technology as a way to convey the more human, more poetic, more sensory story, rather than just putting multiple media together and make things look futuristic.

I reckon the themes I'm interested in are pretty much about the relationship between emotion/perception and technology. Like how can we extract what we knew, how we felt into data, and what technologies can we use to transform the data into visual/sound/smell/touch - that is, to embody the data. In traditional art forms, artists embodied their ideas into paintings or sculptures. But with computational technologies, those ideas/poetics could be embodied into space, into a duration of time, into a process, with multi-sensories experience. Though these breakdown of boundaries between different dimensions, we would be more aware of the connection between self and the others, and the relationship between the internality and the externality.
